Sustainable development

Sustainable development as an overriding target has been approved by most governments through the 1992 Rio declaration. Sustainable development encompasses trajectories for societies that can be maintained over long time periods or infinitely. The long term perspective of sustainable development differs from necessarily short term market approaches. Maintain abilities for long term extraction rather than maximize short term output at the expense of the resource base.
Sustainable development is based on appropriate economic, social and ecological perspectives 8basic pillars) and therefore requires interdisciplinary approaches and more holistic approaches.
